Original exhibit at AANM included a yellow platform, headphones and vinyl Arabic text on the wall as shown in image. The message on the wall is from a billboard once used here in Dearborn, Michigan to recruit Arabic speakers to the U.S. Army. The text translates to, “In the land of opportunities, this is one opportunity that may have never crossed your mind.” The incuded audio continually loops an essay which combines the artist’s commentary with samples of other significant audio – including real government reports. |
