Description |
Necklace made of dried cloves strung with plastic, glass, and mother of pearl beads, and a red stone pendant possibly carnelian. On one side the plastic beads are alternating blue and white around a larger mother of pearl bead, and on the other side are gold and white alternating around a mother of pearl bead. Transferred from the old collection at ACCESS. The 1991 catalog record noted, "Aqad quranfal or clove necklace. This Bedouin necklaced was made, in the past 20 years and was worn by a tribal woman for medicinal, aesthetic, or protective purposes. These necklaces also put off a nice smell. Jordan, jewelry, traditional clothing, Bedouin." Other similar necklaces have been worn for ceremonial purposes like weddings. |
