Description |
Clear plastic bag, 15" h x 6" w, for bulk food from Sahadi's Specialty and Fine Foods. Bag was brought back from a trip on Sahadi's in April, 2012. Abrahim Sahadi opened A. Sahadi & Co. on Washington Street in 1895. His nephew Wade joined him in the United States after World War I, and together they served the growing population of Syrian and Lebanese residents. In 1941, Wade started Sahadi Import Co. on Washington Street several doors down. In 1948, construction of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel uprooted the neighborhood and Sahadi Import Co. moved to Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. Wade's sons Charlie, Richie and Bob took over the business in the late 60s. Their extended families still run Sahadi's, and the expanded wholesale company, continuing the tradition for more than 120 years. |
