Description |
Santa suit belly padding, red fabric, round sponge padding inserted into a red fabric vest with zipper and four bronze buckles, two on each side. Lebanese American Robert George (1924-1998) worked as the White House Santa Claus for almost 50 years, serving under seven administrations beginning in 1956. George was a professional Santa, appearing on television and in the Hollywood Christmas parades. He had 38 different and custom Santa suits. George was born and grew up in Nebraska. In 1949, he decided to retire as a barber and become a full-time Santa Claus. He moved to southern California in 1962, where he kept a year-round Christmas display at his home, and which was supplied with toys to hand out to terminally ill children that were invited to visit. |
