Description |
ab) ladies unlined lounging pajamas consisting of a sleeveless tunic/blouse and cropped trousers, each cut from peach pink silk with a zig-zag hem and hand-embroidered such that (a) top has a v neckline and scalloped edge along the CF opening; three metal frog fasteners form a closure down the CF. The chest and patch pockets are embroidered with vining motifs and wreaths, primarily in pink silk thread; the same pink thread is employed on (b) the coordinating pants, which have a flat yoke at front and a pleated, elastic waistband at back, with each side of the waistband having two plastic buttons to fasten the garment at the waist. Hems of both (ab) are finished at the raw edges with the pink silk thread and feature a floral motif at each point of the hem. All the handwork was completed by the donor's mother, Eugenie Haddad Mudarri, prior to her marriage in 1930 as it was common for women to do embroidery and needlepoint in their spare time, especially in preparation of their trousseau. |
