Mouse: wood toy painted blue, navy blue, white and red, with spiral neck and felt red flower with a yellow painted wood ball in center. Label text: Rafeef El-Hajj brought these with her when, along with her mother and brother, she returned to the United States in 1985 after living in Beirut during the height of the Lebanese Civil War. The toys accompanied the seven-year-old on the plan ride from Beirut to Copenhagen to New York, before landing in Detroit. |
