Roughly rectangular handcarved brown wooden tool with a nearly cylindrical handle carved in one with the body of the scoop at its wider end; a small slat of wood is affixed with three metal nails at either side of the scoop's narrower end. Material has been carved away at the face to allow for holding and cooling of roasted coffee beans ready for grinding, while the exterior is decorated with simple crosshatch incisions along two sides; the underside is embellished with pounches in geometric patterns like irregular zigzags and a central medallion of concentric rings bordered by incised bands. |
