Description |
Hamdi Attia's "ARCHIPELAGO, A World Map" (2010) Ink on vinyl banner Displays a re-imagined world map populated by Arab cities. Artist statement: "The noble failure of trying to make sense of our contemporary life reproduces itself in art practices, creating a successful platform for anti-idealism. Given the tools of this platform, I am simultaneously interested in reconfiguring romanticized socio-political, cultural, or personal products and thoughts by addressing how they diverge and overlap. In this body of work, I am also interested in looking at how fictional narratives overcome factual materials when they try to represent reality." |
