4.5" x 7" copy of a postcard of Mancelona, MI. Image shows a street scene that includes a grocery store owned by the donor's family in the 1920s. Sign reads "S.A. Jabara co. General Merchandise, Fancy Groceries. The Best - For Less." The store burned down in 1945. The grocery was owned by Abdeen Jabara's parents, Sam and Mymonie, who immigrated from Lebanon in the early 1890's and settled in Mancelona in 1923 (Between Arab and White: Race and Ethnicity in the Early Syrian American Diaspora, Sarah M. A. Gualtieri, p. 179). |
