Summary |
Prayer book in Arabic with blue cover and cross illustration on front. Marun and Rose Mualem had eight children all born in North Carolina. Their first born, a son, died at the age of one month. Their offspring include teachers, doctors, health care professionals and businesspeople. Most are in Michigan with one son's family in Atlanta, Georgia. In every home that the Mualems lived, an area was always dedicated to a small altar with religious canvasses, pictures, and devotional items. These items were brought from Lebanon to preserve the rich devotional practices of the Lebanese Maronite Christian culture in America. For almost 90 years, in addition to their spiritual significance, the altar and religious items that adorned it were beautiful reminders of the family's rich Lebanese history. In that span of time, three generations of Mualems were born in the United States. |
