Summary |
Arabic language bible, circa 1905. Red with gold writing "The Holy book" on binding in Arabic. The front page indicates that it is a Bible including both the Old and New Testaments. Writing in English on inside cover of the book. Though hard to decipher, some of the English appears to read, "Johny killed ? 24th, 1939 Tuesday p.m. 11:15 ???? (buried?) ???(Friday??) 27th, 1939. September 10th, 1946 Mary Jo killed ??? 1946 9:30 p.m. Tuesday ???(Buried Friday 9:30???) Belonged to the donor's father. She was the youngest of his nine children. Her father had these for as long as she can remember. Her mother (Lamore Owan Kellel) and father's (Joseph Kellel) lives are documented in "The Syrian-Lebanese in North Dakota" by Sherman, Whitney, and Guerrero. |
