Title |
Lebanese Monk is Candidate for Sainthood |
Scope & Content |
Newspaper clipping from The Altoona Mirror, published in that city, from an article entitled, "Lebanese Monk Is Candidate for Sainthood" about Father Charbel Makhlouf, who had been beatified by Pope Paul VI on December 5, 1965 in St. Peter's Basilica at the end of the Second Vatican Council. Father Charbel, also known as the "Wonderworker," later received sainthood in 1977, which was particularly notable given it was the first cannonization performed at the Vatican of a member Eastern Rite church since the Vatican created new sainthood procedures four centuries before. |
